Why does everyone want to live in Liberland?

Liberland is a micro-nation which is trying to establish itself on a tiny spot of unclaimed land just 7 km² along the banks of the Danube between Croatia and Serbia. The land with no compulsory taxes, no government control, with digital currency. Liberland also name “a tax heaven.”

The Czech politician Vit Jedlicka came across the territory one day on a list of no-man’s lands on Wikipedia. On April 13, 2015 he landed there, planted a flag and became Liberland’s president.

400,000 people have already registered for citizenship in Liberland’s official Facebook page. Country already has its own flag, constitution, anthem and even ambassadors. Liberland also plans to offer virtual money called Merits – similar to the Bitcoin cryptocurrency – as an official payment system.

Zaha Hadid Architects recently built a metaverse for Liberland. It’s a “cyber-urban” city where people can visit digital buildings or buy plots of land using cryptocurrency.
